Katy grew up in Asbury Park, NJ, and began taking art lessons as she was just entering grade school with a family friend, Judy Lewis. One day, after laying her artwork against a wall assuming it was dry, but the next day discovered the paint had run down the entire canvas. She reveled in what Lewis called “A Beautiful Mistake”. An error that Katy embraced, became enamored with, and pragmatically infuse in most of her art work.
