Genna Blackburn is a surface designer and illustrator in Detroit, Michigan. Most of the time you can find her working from her home studio with her cat and cattle dog by her side. Inspired by her love of plants and animals (especially her pets who make regular appearances in her illustrations), her work is a playful exploration of shape and color stemming from her background as a graphic designer.
Genna (rhymes with henna) received her BFA in Graphic Design in 2006 and worked at a design studio until 2014 when she took the leap to work for herself. While she designs for a variety of projects ranging from stationery to art, patterns are one of her favorite things to create because their puzzle-like nature provides a challenge that is very satisfying to see come together.
